Bringing balance to the Premier League one offside at a time

Sep 14th Stoke 2 – 3  Everton // Karmic Score Stoke 3 – 4 Everton

Sweet sweet Karma.  First Ricardo Fuller’s equalizer for Stoke was disallowed for a non-foul on Joseph Yobo, then Everton were denied a penalty when Leon Cort was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the area when he was in fact about 15 yards inside the area.  It all evened itself out in the end and justice was served.  Still, that didn’t stop David Moyes from being sent to the stands for enthusiastically pointing things out to the referee.  Respect David, respect.

Sep 13th Portsmouth 2 – 1 Middlesbrough // Karmic Score Portsmouth 2 – 2 Middlesbrough

Stewart Downing was fouled in the box by Belhadj but no penalty was given, two points gained for ‘Arry’s Pompey.

Sep 13th Blackburn 0 – Arsenal 4 // Karmic Score Blackburn 0 – 3 Arsenal

Eboue’s theatrical dive over Stephen Warnock’s challenge earned Arsenal a penalty and helped them to squeak past Blackburn by four goals.

Aug 30th Arsenal 3 – 0 Newcastle // Karmic Score Arsenal 4 – 0 Newcastle

Robin van Persie was scythed down by Fabricio Collocini as he ran onto a through ball from Febregas but the referee waved play on meaning Arsenal had to wait another ten minutes before opening the scoring against Newcastle.  As a side note Nasri should have been booked late on for a deliciously cynical off the ball foul on thug maestro Joey Barton – surely the epitome of karma.

Aug 30th Bolton 0 – 0 West Brom // Karmic Score Bolton 0 – 1 West Brom

Tons of controversy in this one with two goals ruled offside, a foul right on the edge of the penalty area, and a “did the ball cross the line” moment.  The officials got everything right apart from the goaline decision.  Kim smashed the ball from miles out, it hammered against the crossbar and ricocheted down across the line before bouncing out into the box.  It should’ve been academic if Miller could have managed to head in the rebound from all of two yards, but sadly that was beyond him.

Aug 30th West Ham 4 – 1 Blackburn // Karmic Score West Ham 4 – 2 Blackburn

One of those match turning decisions: Blackburn could have leveled at 2 – 2 had Matt Derbyshire’s equalizer not been wrongly ruled out for offside, and at that point it looked as though Blackbrun could go on to win the game.  As it was the Hammers got lucky and two injury time goals helped provide a flattering score line.

Aug 24th Man City 3 – 0 West Ham // Karmic Score Man City 4 – 0 West Ham

Lucas Neill batted away a corner with his hand – penalty to City.

Aug 24th Stoke 3 – 2 Aston Villa // Karmic Score Stoke 2 – 2 Aston Villa

Gabriel Agbonlahor burst into the box and was pushed over by Amdy Faye but no penalty was given, seconds later the referee awarded a penalty to Stoke when Rory Delap collapsed under the weight of Martin Laursen’s brush to his leg hairs.  If you give one you should give both – Karmic verdict: no penalties.

Aug 17th Man. Utd. 1 – 1 Newcastle // Karmic Score Man. Utd. 2 – 1 Newcastle

James Milner stopped Ryan Giggs’ free kick with his hand in the box, the ref waved play on.  Shame because Newcastle really did deserve a point here.

Aug 17th Aston Villa 4 – 2 Man. City // Karmic Score Aston Villa 4 – 1 Man. City

Michael  Johnson fell over in the box after kicking the turf to win City a meaningless non-penalty.

Aug 16th Everton 2 - 3 Blackburn // Karmic Score Everton 2 - 2 Blackburn

Paul Ince will have to wait for his first win as a Premier League manager because Ryan Nelsen was offside when the ball was crossed in for the header that led to Andre Oojer scoring the injury time winner.

Aug 16th Sunderland 0 – 1 Liverpool // Karmic Score Sunderland 0 – 2 Liverpool

Steven Gerrard was fouled on the edge of the area but the referee allowed play to continue long enough for Pascal Chimbonda to bundle over Yossi Benayoun in the box.  Unwilling to give a penalty the referee awarded a free kick which Steven Gerrard promptly smashed into the wall.

Aug 16th Middlesbrough 2 – 1 Spurs // Karmic Score Middlesbrough 3 – 1 Spurs

David Wheater’s first half goal was disallowed for a non-foul on Michael Dawson
